Our upland bird hunting preserve which opened in the Fall of 2007 is the first of its kind in the Boone area.  We offer hunts for quail, chukar, and pheasants.  Our hunts take place in fields and surrounding mountain terrain, therefore,  be prepared to have your exercise workout for the day during your hunt.  As you hunt, you will be surrounded by the fall colors to the snow showers of a winter day.  You  may choose to  hunt only one type of bird or we have combo hunts.  We provide dogs on all hunts or you may bring your own.   We are located approximately six miles east of Boone, NC.    *Hunts and lodging packages are available.

 The picturesque beauty of the sun glistening on the water as it ripples across a rock bottom stream concealing in a pool or an underwater rock ledge the trout that lies patiently waiting for is unexpected prey. Whether fishing a river or small stream in the spring or fall to outwit “Mr. Trout” is a challenge and requires much patience. The High Country is famous for its trout waters.  On any given day a mixed bag of rainbow, brown, or brook trout can be caught. If you are an avid fisherman, putting the experience of the surrounding beauty of the mountains and the thrill of a trout rising to the top is very hard to put into words.  Mountainside Lodge offers both whole day and half day fishing excursions.  Our Bed and Breakfast overlooks the Watuaga River which is one of the premier trout rivers in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  We can wade local rivers and creeks or arrange a float trip with a local guide service.  Please call us for more information  at 1-877-687-4333.
